We offer a competitive benefits package to meet the diverse needs of all employees and their family members.
Employees working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for the benefits described below on their employment start date.
UNAVCO offers a flat dollar amount to defray the cost of medical insurance. These plans offer you the benefit of choosing the type of coverage that is best for you and your family. The monthly amount provided is based upon coverage:
This typically covers 50%-100% of combined premiums for medical, depending upon the plan chosen and employee location.
A variety of PPO (Preferred Provider Organization), POS (Point of Service), HMO (Health Maintenance Plans), HDHP (High Deductible Health Plans), HSA (Health Spending Account) and Indemnity plans are available to choose from depending upon your location. Medical insurance carriers include Aetna, Blue Shield, Group Health WA and Kaiser Permanente.
Critical Illness Care Insurance is available as a complement to these plans through MetLife.
A variety of PPO (Preferred Provider Organization), PDN (Preferred Dental Program) and DMO (Dental Maintenance Organization) plans are available to choose from. Carriers include Aetna, Met life and Delta.
Vision insurance is offered through Aetna and Vision Service Plan at all locations. Most vision care providers accept VSP insurance: Co-payment ranges from $10-$25 per person. Exams and materials can be acquired every 12 months.
Flexible Spending Account:
Participants contribute up to $2,550 each year to a Health Care and/or Dependent Care FSA, allowing them to pay for eligible health care and dependent day care expenses on a pre-tax basis. The FSA year is offset and begins again in October.
A Wage Works flexible spending account is also available to those employees who qualify.
Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance are provided at no cost to employees through MetLife. This benefit is one time the annual salary for employees. Employees may choose to apply for and purchase optional supplemental life or ADD insurance for themselves and/or dependents through MetLife. The cost of optional plans is paid through payroll deduction.
For employee enrolled in MetLife voluntary life plan, MetLife provides a complimentary will writing service.
Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance:
Short and Long-term disability insurance is provided at no cost to employees through MetLife. The benefit is 60% of salary up to a maximum of $10,000 per month.
Paid Time Off (PTO):
Full-time employees accrue PTO as follows:
Part-time regular employees accrue PTO in proportion to their appointments.
Ten paid holidays are observed each year. Part-time employees scheduled to work on a paid holiday receive holiday pay in proportion to their appointments.
UNAVCO’s rich retirement plan is offered through TIAA-CREF. All non-temporary employees must participate in the plan. Upon entry into the plan, annuities are fully vested with the employee. UNAVCO contributes 10% of an employee’s base salary and the employee contributes a mandatory 5% of base salary. All contributions are made with pre-tax dollars. Employees may elect to make additional voluntary contributions up to the IRS-allowed limit through pre-tax payroll deduction.
